OUR STORY

Our passion extends beyond good coffee, right through to supporting the communities who grow the beans.

A MUTUAL LOVE FOR COFFEE

Martin and Oscar opened their coffee bar in Crouch End in 2016, after discovering a mutual love for coffee and a shared passion for bringing the highest quality coffee experiences to the people of North London.
Despite growing up on opposite sides of the world, the rich aroma of coffee has run like a golden thread through both of their lives. Oscar, Colombian born, grew up on a farm in the Andes highlands, east of Bogota, where coffee beans were both grown and roasted. Over 5,000 miles away in a small town in the east of the Netherlands, Martin remembers well the days when his grandad would sell loose coffee beans out of large tins in the family corner shop. These experiences resulted in a real appreciation for quality coffee, which Martin and Oscar are pleased to put to good use when curating the finest selection of products for our customers.

We work with some of the best roasters in the UK, the Netherlands and other parts of Europe to bring our customers some of the best flavours from around the globe. Our beans are ever-changing so we’ll always have something new for you to discover.
Our coffee bar is modern in style and we welcome everyone, whether you’re local to Crouch End or come from further afield. We also sell products online so you can enjoy quality coffee from the comfort of your home. We hope you will discover something new with us soon.

For us, every stage of the coffee bean journey matters. We can trace our beans all the way back to the coffee farms and are greatly committed to supporting farmers and their communities. From forming meaningful relationships with roasters to providing the highest level of training for our baristas, we take every effort to guarantee quality, provenance and flavour for our customers.

DID YOU KNOW?

The coffee bean has travelled the world for centuries, being smuggled, stolen and traded along the way. And interestingly, both Colombia and Holland had a role to play. Although the coffee plant originated in Ethiopia, the Dutch East and West India Companies were responsible for exporting it around the world, first to Asia and later to the Caribbean and Latin America.

Coffee beans arrived in Colombia in the early 1700s, where they thrived thanks to its mountainous terrain and mild climate. These days, Colombia is the third largest coffee-producing country in the world and is lauded for the flavour and quality of its arabica beans.
